Scrumptious Shrimp for Fall

As temperatures cool and the holiday party season starts to heat up, who wouldn't want this most succulent of shellfish to help accentuate every manner of family dining or special event?  America's most-popular seafood is a clear favorite for any circumstance or festivity, from after-school snacks and cozy campfires to football tailgates and holiday blowouts.

As a nutritional bonus, a 3-ounce serving of shrimp contains a mere 83 calories and just 1 gram of fat, while providing nearly 20 grams of protein and a wholesome serving of heart-healthy omega-3s and essential vitamins, such as B12 and selenium.  It's the protein-rich crustacean that fits perfectly on any menu.

According to Judy Dashiell, Senior Vice President of the National Fisheries Institute, "Shrimp this fall can help you be the talk of the tailgate or the 'hostess with the mostess' at company celebrations or get-togethers with family and friends.  As the mercury begins to drop, shrimp is a quick-and-easy alternative for dull, after-school snacks and a solution that's sure to spice up all your festive occasions."

The Shrimp Council, whose mission is to promote shrimp as a nutritious and delicious protein, is home to a treasure chest of mouthwatering shrimp recipes.  Here are just a few of the council's creative suggestions for serving shrimp when the sun sets on the summer and the leaves start to change:

Serve up Movie-Night "Popcorn" and inspire a trip to the islands with Maui Munchers coconut popcorn shrimp.
Even fussy eaters won't be able to resist After-School Apps featuring BBQ Shrimp Quesadillas.

The entire family will declare victory when mom makes Game-Night Grub with Shrimp Po' Boy Sandwiches in the starting lineup.

Dish up a Tailgating Twist with a Shrimp Dip!

When you're tired of Tom the Turkey leftovers, offer a new take a Thanksgiving Tradition with Shrimp & Pumpkin Risotto.

Twirl it up with Lasagna Seafood Roll-Ups at your Holiday Dinner Fete.
